The leadership in the library profession has failed to promote libraries to the people who hold the purse strings and instead have spent their time navel gazing and jumping on every blue sky band wagon that passes by. Jesmond Local : 29th June Newcastle | Residents’ bus service to continue despite Library closure
Though the doors have closed on Jesmond Library today as the council cuts its funding, residents have been reassured that their community bus service will continue through to at least the end of the year despite the closure. This Is Hampshire : 27th June Library service being run into the ground, warns union Funding cuts have been directed at library services but in Wiltshire, where there has been a successful campaign to recruit volunteers, cracks are now appearing. Campaigners have reached an agreement to keep Benson library going after funding cuts come into effect next year. The Friends of Benson Library group has provisionally agreed staffing arrangements following four months of negotiations with Oxfordshire County Council.
