This is the kind of thing that makes volunteers such a valued supplement to a library service. Just don't force them to run the whole service....

What a lovely status on Facebook about our amazing volunteers!

Generous shout out 😀

Newcastle libraries #OpenData can be found in a few places, but here is some info on the Council website https://www.newcastle.gov.uk/local-government/access-information-and-data/open-data/libraries-data-sets https://twitter.com/Audesome/status/1368151572706910212

Happy #OpenDataDay library people!

Because if we're about access to information, it should include information about our own services, in an open format 🙌

A great example of a UK public library publishing open data: @BarnetLibraries - see https://open.barnet.gov.uk/dataset?tag=Libraries

Things like this are why the arbitrary delineations of “unskilled jobs” don’t hold.

All labour takes effort and skill - so there are no unskilled jobs, just jobs that aren’t appreciated so don’t get training or resourcing in society.

A great read for #OpenDataDay about public libraries' role in open data.

https://www.libraryjournal.com/?detailStory=public-libraries-and-open-government-data-partnerships-for-progress

"public libraries can promote, and help lead, this crucial dimension of information access and literacy in the digital age."

The lovely #Brutalist South Norwood Library (Mies meets Breuer) has been recently refused listing and is now under threat of closure. Follow @friends_norwood to show your concern. Just look at that beautiful sign! 3
