Information matters... what an astonishingly daft cut to make...

Jim Muir @MuirJim

Tears in my eyes as I listen to the last broadcast by @BBCArabic, closing down after 85 years. It meant so much to so many people here over the decades. Now the airwaves are dead. End of an era.

#BookIllustrationOf The Day is by Bulgarian illustrator Ivan Gantschev for “Der Mondsee”. (“The Moon Lake”, 1981). Beautiful, deceptively simple watercolour paintings, with wonderful compositions and irresistible characters, in a tale of a secret lake where the moon bathes.

Tee hee. I’m facing the same challenge - although it’s 18th century in my case. Real people are so weird and unpredictable aren’t they. 😁 Not like us perfectly delightful writer types. https://twitter.com/rachloudriscoll/status/1618666466529910784

After months of being a recluse to focus on writing & editing, I have 2 events booked into my social calendar this weekend. I’m really excited but I’m also wondering how to talk to people who aren’t fictional characters from the 19th century 😅 #authors #weekendvibes #histfic

How do we get EVERY SINGLE CHILD to be a reader? Do these 3 things & you'll give them a great start!
1. Read aloud to them.
2. Give them the widest possible range of books to choose from.
3. Let them choose freely and read for pleasure, and never dismiss their choices.
