Sheffield library sites ‘set up to fail’
Sheffield Council officers have warned libraries kept open by community groups without public funding would lack any ‘real chance’ of staying open. Wrexham Council cuts: Protesters claim victory over library closure plan
After an hour-and-a-half councillors voted overwhelmingly to opt for an alternative recommendation that would mean keeping the three threatened sites open. Councillors waved through a recommendation to reduce opening times at all libraries across Wrexham on average by 26% to make the necessary savings. They went a step further by bolting onto the recommendation a call for council officers seek ways to shift libraries into community hubs to cut costs.
